Stokke YOYO 3 stroller accessories
The Stokke YOYO 3 is Stokke's XS stroller, completely all-in-one and ready to accompany the baby's growth. This model was the first to create the ultra-compact stroller segment, i.e., strollers that fit in an airplane cabin and, at the same time, accompany the baby from birth to early childhood.
The Stokke YOYO 3 is a stroller that is purchased almost in modules. Each component is sold separately, allowing for a configuration totally adjusted to the family's needs. Thus, it is possible to choose between the chassis, the type of cover, the baby nest, or the carrycot — with these last two options being interchangeable depending on the baby's stage.
In addition, there are various accessories such as mosquito nets (for both the stroller and carrycot phases), specific rain covers for each configuration, car seat adapters, a step board for older siblings, and even a travel bag. Therefore, thanks to this versatility, the YOYO 3 easily adapts to each family's lifestyle.
What changed in this version of the YOYO 3
In this new edition, the brand introduced important improvements compared to the previous model, the YOYO 2. To begin with, the canopy has been redesigned: it is now longer and includes a ventilation window that allows for greater air circulation on warmer days. However, it is necessary to choose between the peekaboo window option or the version with greater coverage.
Furthermore, the seat is now longer and more comfortable: the backrest height increased from 47 cm to 53 cm when fully reclined, thanks to a new extendable cushion — a much-requested improvement by parents. In addition, the seat width is 28 cm, with a depth of 23 cm in the seat area, which can be extended by another 12 cm with the addition of an extra footrest (sold separately).
The seat recline is simple to adjust, thanks to an intuitive mechanism, although it does not allow for a fully horizontal position. Still, it offers a comfortable angle for baby naps. Another important detail is the addition of a rear mesh on the backrest, which significantly improves ventilation — a feature that did not exist in the previous version.

Finally, the harness is easy to open and close, but the straps remain impractical to adjust. Currently, many strollers already have more intuitive automatic systems, so this is an expected improvement for a future Stokke YOYO 4 or 5.
YOYO 3 user experience for parents
From a parent's perspective, there are details that make a difference in daily use — such as the imitation leather handle, which is more comfortable and elegant than the usual foam ones that wear out easily. Although not height-adjustable, the ergonomics are reasonable: those around 1.50 m may feel their arms slightly elevated, but up to 1.75 m tall, it is possible to push the stroller comfortably.
The fold is quite compact and meets IATA requirements for airplane cabin transport. However, the folding process requires some effort: it is necessary to press on both sides, pull a white button on the bottom of the stroller, and then engage the red handle until you hear the click that confirms the full closure. This system, although effective, could be more intuitive, especially when compared to models that offer automatic folding — which would avoid frequent "squats."
On the other hand, opening is quick and practical. Just release the clasp and open the stroller like a sheet — simple and immediate, ideal for when you're in a hurry or holding the baby.
Basket, suspension and wheels of the YOYO 3
The YOYO 3 basket has been enlarged and now has a maximum capacity of 10 kg, which is an improvement over previous versions. The accessibility is quite good, however, it is unlikely that you can actually carry that volume in terms of usable space — which is understandable, considering that we are dealing with an ultracompact stroller.
Regarding suspension, the front shock absorbers stand out, offering satisfactory performance for a stroller in this segment. There is also some suspension on the rear axle, but it is important to note that this is a more urban model, not designed for uneven terrain.
The rubber wheels are another positive point, as they contribute to greater durability and better contact with the ground. On the other hand, the rear brake remains unfriendly to open-toed shoes, requiring some care when using it with sandals, for example.
From birth: nest, carrycot, or car seat?
If you intend to use the Stokke YOYO 3 from birth, there are three main options: the nest, the carrycot, or the car seat with adapters. The choice depends on the family's lifestyle and the desired level of comfort for the baby.
The nest is ideal for those looking for a lightweight, ultra-compact, and easy-to-carry stroller, even when folded — perfect for urban use, transport, or travel. In addition, it includes a padded footmuff for winter, which can be removed in summer, allowing better ventilation and greater thermal comfort for the baby.
However, there is a limitation: the baby is in a position very close to the ground, which forces parents to bend down considerably to interact with them. For those with back pain or problems, this may not be the most practical solution.
Folding the stroller with the nest requires a little more pressure, but it remains super compact and lightweight, maintaining essential practicality for those who need mobility in urban spaces or while traveling.
On the other hand, the YOYO 3 carrycot is higher and provides greater comfort, both for the baby and for parents. In addition, it is a spacious carrycot (ideal until about 4-6 months) and very light, being easy to detach from the stroller and transport. Still, the compact design is maintained, although folding it with the carrycot takes up a little more volume than with the nest.
Another option is to use the YOYO 3 with a car seat, using adapters sold separately (around €70). It is compatible with several brands, including Maxi-Cosi, BeSafe, Britax Römer, Cybex, Joie, and Nuna.
However, we do not recommend using a car seat for strolls — even if the model is reclinable. Car seats should be used primarily for automotive safety. For extended outings, a carrycot or bassinet will always be more suitable and ergonomic options for the baby.
Conclusion
The Stokke YOYO 3 is compatible with various car seats, making it a versatile option for families. In summary, it is an ultracompact stroller that fits in an airplane cabin and can be used from birth with a bassinet, carrycot, or car seat, or from 6 months with the reclinable seat, ideal for good naps.
This stroller is especially suitable for urban environments, being light, compact, and perfect for travel. However, it is not recommended for rough terrain, such as gravel, as the wheels and suspension are not designed for such conditions, which can cause rapid wear and discomfort for the baby.
Is it worth investing €469 in the Stokke YOYO 3? In my opinion, yes. The stroller offers a 3-year warranty and an excellent brand reputation. While there are other options on the market that may offer better value for money, with easier clasps, simpler harness adjustments, or included accessories, the YOYO 3 remains a valid choice — especially for those who value Stokke's quality and design.
