Frequently asked questions

From what age can I give a teether?

Teethers can be used from the first signs of teething, usually around 3 to 6 months. They ease gum discomfort and help the baby explore safely. Always check the recommended age on each product's page.

How do the Chicco water teethers work?

Water-filled rings can be chilled in the fridge, never the freezer, to give a cool feeling that soothes sore gums. It's recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions on chilling time and always check the ring is intact before giving it to the baby.

What's the difference between silicone and natural rubber teethers?

Silicone is firm, odourless and easy to clean, while natural rubber, used in brands such as Natruba, is softer and naturally sourced. Both are safe; the choice depends on the baby's preference and the texture they like to bite.

How do I properly clean teethers?

It's recommended to wash teethers with warm water and mild detergent after each use, following the manufacturer's instructions. Some single-piece silicone teethers can be sterilised, but those containing liquid or wood should not be boiled or submerged. Always check the product page.

From what age should I start brushing my baby's teeth?

Oral hygiene should start when the first tooth appears, using a soft toothbrush suited to your child's age. Toothbrushes such as the Chicco first teeth brush or the Philips Sonicare for kids are designed for this stage. We recommend supervision and a minimal, age-appropriate amount of toothpaste.

Do teethers really help with teething?

Yes. When biting, your baby applies pressure to their gums, which helps relieve the discomfort associated with teething. Offering different textures can help. If your baby shows signs of ongoing discomfort, we recommend consulting your paediatrician.
