What's the difference between a Standard size and a Toddler size baby carrier?

The Toddler size has a taller, wider panel than the Standard, offering more support for the back and legs of bigger children. It's suited to when the Standard starts to feel too small. Check the product page for the recommended weight and height range for each size.

Up to what weight or age can I use these Toddler carriers?

Toddler models are designed for older children, usually from around 2 years, and support higher weights than baby models. The exact limit varies by brand (ByKay, Fidella, Tula). Always check the weight range stated on each carrier's page.

What's the difference between the Mei Tai and the buckle carrier?

The Mei Tai fastens with fabric straps that tie around the body, allowing a highly personalised fit, while a buckle carrier (full buckle or click carrier) uses quick fasteners and is generally simpler to put on. Both let you carry your child ergonomically; the choice depends on your preference.

Do these carriers respect the ergonomic hip position?

Yes. The models in this collection were designed to support the ergonomic M position, also called the frog position, where the knees sit higher than the bottom, properly supporting your child's hips and spine. We recommend following the brand's instructions to adjust the panel and straps correctly.

Can I back-carry my older child in the baby carrier?

Many Toddler models allow back carrying, a practical, comfortable position for children who already have good trunk and head control. We recommend practising first with help and following the manufacturer's instructions regarding minimum age and the correct way to fit it.

Is it difficult to learn how to use a Mei Tai, such as the one from ByKay?

At first, it may seem less intuitive than a buckle carrier, but with a little practice it becomes simple and quick. We recommend practising the knots and adjustment with your child well supported, ideally with help the first few times. The Bonabebe team can answer any questions about how to use it.
