Learning cups to accompany the first sips towards independence. Choose the right model for each stage of the transition from the bottle.

From what age can a learning cup be introduced?

As a general rule, the learning cup starts being introduced around 6 months, when weaning begins and your baby can already sit with support. Small, open models, such as the ezpz Tiny Cup, help train the first sips, while cups with a lid and handles make the transition easier. It's recommended to follow your baby's pace and each product's age guidance.

What's the difference between an open cup and a cup with a spout or straw?

An open cup, like those from ezpz, helps train coordination and drinking like an adult, supporting oral development. Cups with a hard spout or straw are more practical away from home as they reduce spills. Many professionals suggest alternating between the two; the choice depends on the child's stage and preference.

Are the cups BPA-free and safe?

Yes. The cups in this collection, from brands such as ezpz and BabyBjörn, are made from materials suited to feeding and free from BPA. The melamine items from Design Letters are intended for cold or lukewarm food. Always check each product's page to confirm materials and usage recommendations.

Can these cups go in the dishwasher and microwave?

Most cups made from silicone or their own type of plastic, such as those from ezpz and BabyBjörn, are dishwasher-safe. Melamine items, such as those from Design Letters, can generally be washed in the dishwasher, but shouldn't go in the microwave. Always check the instructions given on each product's page.

How do the ezpz sets that suction to the table work?

ezpz sets and cups are made from silicone with a base that suction-grips the table or the highchair tray, reducing the risk of falls and spills during meals. They're ideal for the stage of feeding independence, when the child starts eating on their own. The suction works best on smooth, non-porous surfaces.

Do Design Letters melamine cups need special care?

Melamine is sturdy and light, ideal for everyday life with children, but shouldn't be heated in the microwave or used with very hot food. We recommend washing it according to the manufacturer's instructions to preserve the colours and durability. If it cracks or shows significant wear, the item should be replaced.
