What does the TOG value stated on Bemini sleeping bags mean?

TOG measures the sleeping bag's thermal insulation: the higher the value, the warmer the bag. The Bemini models in this collection range from TOG 0.5 (very light, for warm conditions or summer) to TOG 2.5 (for colder rooms). We recommend choosing the TOG based on the room temperature, not just the season.

Which TOG should I choose based on the room temperature?

As a general guide, lower TOG bags (0.5 to 1) suit warmer rooms, between around 21 and 24°C, while TOG 2 to 2.5 bags are suited to cooler environments, below 20°C. It's recommended to dress your baby in layers and always check each model's label, as comfort perception varies from child to child.

What's the difference between the 3-9m and 4-12m sizes available in this collection?

The label refers to the age range and, above all, the height of baby the bag was designed for. The size should let your baby move comfortably, without their head being able to slip down inside the bag. Always check the measurements given on the product page, and choose the right size for the moment, avoiding a bag that's too big.

Is it safe to use a sleeping bag instead of blankets?

A sleeping bag is generally seen as a practical, safe option, as it stays with the baby without covering the head or coming loose during the night, unlike loose blankets. Even so, safe sleep guidance should always be followed: lay the baby on their back, on a firm mattress, free of pillows and loose objects in the cot.

What clothing should I dress my baby in under the sleeping bag?

Clothing underneath depends on the sleeping bag's TOG rating and the room temperature. In mild conditions, a light bodysuit or sleepsuit is usually enough with a low TOG; in colder rooms, you can combine a long-sleeved sleepsuit with a higher TOG. Avoid overdressing your baby, and check their neck or chest to see if they're comfortable, without sweating.

How do I wash the Bemini sleeping bags?

It's recommended to always follow the instructions on each bag's label. Generally, sleeping bags can be machine washed at gentle temperatures and air dried, avoiding harsh fabric softeners that reduce the fabric's breathability. If in doubt about a specific model, the Bonabebe team can help.
