How to install the baby car seat in the car

The time for maternity discharge has arrived, and a question arises:
How to safely install the car seat in the car?
How to ensure the safe installation of the car seat in the car when the instruction manual has unclear translations, the guidance received about the car seat has been lost, opinions vary among people, and our only goal is to ensure our baby's car seat is correctly installed to provide a safe journey?
Well, the truth is that sometimes we are overcome by excessive zeal, and there are plenty of voices telling us to relax about safety matters because in our childhood "we all rode freely in the car and we're alive to tell stories of when we stood with our heads out of the car roof."
What does reality tell us?
Reality, however, tells us a very different story. The leading cause of infant mortality in developed countries is accidents, and motor vehicle accidents account for the largest share of these accidents. See APSI
As lifestyles have changed so much, our children will travel many more kilometers by car than we did in our childhood. While we stayed at home with grandparents or nannies, or walked to school, our children travel daily by car to daycare, kindergarten, and school.
In the child road safety workshops I facilitate, when I ask mothers which trips they consider most dangerous: whether long-distance or short-distance; most correctly answer that they are short-distance. However, when I ask where they pay more attention to installing the baby's car seat, I notice that they unanimously have an insight when they realize they pay more attention on long-distance trips.
Therefore, if road accidents are the most dangerous, if our babies travel more kilometers than we did in our childhood, and if the routes we take with our babies are the ones most likely to put us on autopilot, then it makes perfect sense to:
- Invest in a good car seat
- Have the car seat properly installed
- Commit to preventive driving
